Will’s wills for Charity
Will’s wills for charity is back once again. Here is how it works:
This is a two day only program: Friday May 12th 2017 and Friday May 26th 2017. You need to book one time slot for each day.
At the end of the day you and your partner each get a will and two powers of attorney (one for health and one for finances). I normally charge $734.50 flat rate (with tax) for that.
Here is how it works:
You sign up for one of the following time slots for Friday May 12:
9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30 or 2:00 UNFORTUNATELY ALL 5 SPOTS ARE NOW TAKEN
With that time slot you get the corresponding time slot for Friday May 26. So if you have the 9:30 time on May 12, you have the 9:30 time on May 26 as well.
I will cross the time slots off as they get taken.
On May 12 we talk about the options for a will and POAs and make decisions. I then draft the documents. We then meet again on May 26 to review, edit and sign.
Instead of paying me for the will and POAs, you pay a charity. You can do that in one of two ways: 1) you pay $700 directly to the charity using the below link or 2) you give me $450 cash and I will add $250 to that myself and pay it to the charity (I will top it up because I will then get the charitable deduction whereas you get the deduction if you pay the $700 directly).
St. Alban’s Boys and Girls Club is an organization that I am on the board of and that I am a great believer in. St. Alban’s runs a whole range of programs for children in four different areas in the city (Bathurst and Dupont, Jane and Finch, Weston Mount Dennis and Lawrence Heights). In all locations they run important programs for children with financial need and who are at risk. There are homework programs for instance and drop in programs and parenting classes and subsidized daycare and camps for kids etc. Right now (among many other things) we are working on creating an overnight summer camp that would include subsidized spots for kids so that kids can get to experience all of the great things that one gets to experience going to an overnight camp.
So, in summary, you get a will and two POAs for each of the two of you and you spend less money than you would normally spend to do so and you help a kids charity in the process. That is win, win, win.
The only cost of doing so is that you have to fit into the time slots that I am offering. I can’t run this program at other times, it’s a one time slot on two set days only deal.
